Six line values

Enter the bottom line first: 6 changing Yin, 7 steady Yang, 8 steady Yin and 9 changing Yang. The primary figure keeps the original states; changing positions flip in the relating figure.

Eight-palace reference

Each pure trigram begins a family of eight figures. Successive changes produce first through fifth generation, then the wandering-soul and returning-soul figures. The family supplies Metal, Wood, Water, Fire or Earth as the reference for the five named relations.

Date and line layers

The selected clock uses China Standard Time and the 23:00 day change. Day-stem groups start the six spirits: Jia/Yi at Azure Dragon, Bing/Ding at Vermilion Bird, Wu at Hooked Earth, Ji at Serpent, Geng/Xin at White Tiger and Ren/Gui at Black Tortoise.

Follow the moving position

Read each moving line’s original and changed branch, its five-relation label and the date context. Shi and Ying mark the chart’s paired reference positions, separated by three lines.
