Read the four named favorable directions
Sheng Qi 生气 is the growth direction, Tian Yi 天医 the heavenly-healing direction, Yan Nian 延年 the continuity direction and Fu Wei 伏位 the stable-base direction. These labels distinguish the four assignments within an East or West group.
Occupant and house
Personal Ming Gua comes from birth year and the selected traditional calculation. House gua comes from the sitting direction, opposite facing. Compare the two assignments separately rather than substituting a person’s Kua for a building’s orientation.
