Branch-distance rule
Subtract the solar-month branch index from the day branch index and reduce it modulo twelve. A difference of zero selects Establish; one selects Remove, and eleven Close. The officer sequence shifts with the month branch.
Activities and officers
An officer is one date label. Yi and Ji activity entries add other almanac rules, so a date search reads the activity entries directly and excludes a date when that activity also appears under Ji.
A date at a month opening
This calendar assigns one officer to the civil date using the term’s calendar date. A birth chart can instead distinguish clocks before and after the exact term instant. Choose the almanac date for an activity listing and the chart time for natal pillars.
